Debbie is working towards her PhD in history where she focuses on medieval monastic communities governed by women. Debbie will give an overview of some of the important events and people in the modern LGBT history movement. She will then talk more generally about what it means to study and write about queer history when a lot of people within and outwith the academy are quite against it. She will be focusing on hidden queer histories, giving examples from her own research to highlight the issues that the Church and Academia have with LGBT history. Throughout there will be a focus on why this is important for queer people today especially, but not exclusively, in the Church.
