Every year, LGBT History Month Scotland has a theme to help us shape our programme, and help you shape your events.
Since 2018 is Scotland’s Year of Young People, we’re putting the focus on youth, young people and celebrating the generations that have come before them with the theme, When We Were Young
We would love to see events which support people to reflect on their ‘youth’ in the broadest sense, events which bring together lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people across the generations, as well as events which appeal to both the young and young-at-heart!
How you choose to interpret the theme is up to you; your event might focus on a specific person or people - or the wider LGBT community.
You might focus on the contribution LGBT people have made to a particular scene - like literature, music or engineering - or the unsung LGBT heroes who have made an impact in your own community.
LGBT History Month is for everyone - community groups, organisations, individuals, professionals, activists and service providers.
It’s for LGBT people and non-LGBT people alike.
It’s for intersex people, people with non-binary gender identities, those that are queer and questioning, and those with intersectional identities.
And this year – remember it’s for the young, the old and everyone in-between!
If you want to talk through your ideas – or need helping reaching the LGBT people in your area – please get in touch
Whether you’re a school, college or university, an LGBT society or staff network, a community or grassroots group, or a business or organisation who wants to help us celebrate - we want to hear from you!Register your event here.
