Every year, LGBT History Month Scotland has a theme to help us shape our programme, and help you shape your events.2017 is the Scottish Government’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, and this year, we’re putting the spotlight on heritage.
From listed buildings to cultural traditions, stories, myths and legends, we want to use LGBT History Month to highlight the contribution lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people have made to society, both here in Scotland and in the world at large.
How you choose to interpret the theme is up to you; your event might focus on a specific space or place that has been important to LGBTI people in your community – a club, a coffee shop, a book shop, a centre – or the often hidden histories of LGBTI people.
You might focus on the history of a particular group – Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners, the Lesbian Avengers, Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries – or the contribution LGBTI people have made to a particular scene, like literature, music or engineering.
Whatever you plan to do, we want to hear from you!
