LGBT History Month 2017 - submit your event!

It’s that time of year again – time to start telling us what you’re doing for LGBT History Month Scotland!

This year, instead of a brochure, we’ll be producing a poster and postcard to help people promote their events.

As ever, we’ll be listing the events that are happening all over Scotland on our dedicated LGBT History Month website, and promoting them via Facebook and Twitter.

We’ll be doing a big website upload and sending out a press release highlighting the breadth of LGBT History Month Scotland and profiling some of the most exciting events on Monday 12th December – if you’d like to be part of that, make sure you get your events listings to us by then!

Submit your event via the LGBT History Month website here!

You don’t need to go into too much detail – we just need a bit of a blurb about what you plan to do, where and when it’s happening, and a picture we can use to promote your event if you have one.

Still not got anything planned?

Remember, LGBT History Month isn’t just about hosting or attending big events.

If you host any sort of regular activity – a youth group, a film night, a book group – why not use it to focus on LGBTI heritage?

Read a book by an LGBTI author, watch an LGBTI-themed film, put on a quiz focused on LGBTI history.

Again, don’t forget to let us know what you’re doing so we can promote your event to the wider community – celebrating LGBTI history and making LGBTI identities visible can be a great way of letting LGBTI people know they’re welcome within your service, school or business.

Friday 24th February is… Purple Friday.

To mark the last Friday of LGBT History Month, we’re asking you to wear purple to show your support for the LGBTI community and stand up against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.

Why not get creative? Host a Purple Pot-luck, sponsor someone to dye their hair (or beard!) or sell purple cupcakes in your foyer to raise money for an LGBTI charity!

You can download a Purple Friday information pack and order Purple Friday resources from the LGBT Youth Scotland website, here.
