Evaluation Volunteer (LGBT History Month Scotland)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

February is… LGBT History Month.

LGBT History Month takes place in Scotland every February. It is an opportunity to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer lives and culture, and to recognise the significant contribution LGBT people have made to our country and the world at large.

Every year we work in partnership with groups and organisations all over Scotland to programme a range of arts, cultural and educational events.

The Evaluation Volunteer would help monitor the success of LGBT History Month 2016, providing suggestions for further development.

Please note: this role will help support the work of LGBT History Month Scotland, and may include some engagement with the wider LGBT community. However, this is not a direct youth work role.

MAIN TASKS:

  • To support the Development Officer to measure the impact of LGBT History Month 2016
  • To develop innovative, creative ways of evaluating arts, cultural and educational events
  • To attend key events, representing LGBT History Month Scotland and encouraging participants to evaluate the events
  • To assist with social media engagement and monitoring, particularly of key events/days such as LGBT History Month launch party and Purple Friday
  • To coordinate and collate evaluation data from LGBT History Month-branded events
  • To contribute to the LGBT History Month 2016 Evaluation Report

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  • A passion for arts and cultural events
  • Creative thinking, problem solving
Desirable:
  • Previous experience in data entry/analysis and report writing

This role would suit an Events student. LGBT History Month Scotland would be happy to support a student placement.

WHERE & WHEN:

Where: Glasgow office, with travel outwith Glasgow for key events

When: 4 hours per week, preferably during the day (to be decided between volunteer/Development Officer), December 2015 – March 2016.

Please note: this is a short term volunteering opportunity.

TRAINING & SUPPORT PROVIDED:

  • Induction training, and then on-going training options relevant to your role
  • Travel expenses to and from events reimbursed
  • Regular support and supervision
  • Regular volunteer social events
  • References provided on request
