Every year, LGBT History Month Scotland has a theme to help us shape our programme, and help you shape your events. This year, we’re putting the spotlight on LGBT innovators.
2016 is Scotland’s Year of Innovation
, and we want to highlight the LGBT people who have really made a difference in our communities.
How you choose to interpret the theme is up to you; your event might focus on a famous LGBT person – an activist, an author, a musician, a sportsperson – or you might choose to highlight someone you feel hasn’t been given the recognition they deserve.
You might want to focus on the unsung heroes who have made a difference in your own area, or your local LGBT community.
LGBT History Month is a community effort. Whether you’re a school, college or university, an LGBT society or staff network, a community or grassroots group, or an organisation who wants to help us celebrate, we want to hear from you!Click here to check out our LGBT History Month toolkit, which has a range of tips and ideas for events, as well as printable sheets to help you plan, promote and evaluate your event.
Last year’s events included film screenings, creative writing workshops and celebratory community events – we even had a roller disco!
We’ll be spotlighting some of last year’s events on our blog over the coming weeks, so if you’re looking for inspiration – stay tuned!
If you’ve already planned your event – well done! Click here to let us know what you’re doing so we can list your event in our brochure and promote it on our social media channels.
